Registered Nurse
I interviewed with HCA for their New Nurse Residency Program and it was a great experience. The whole process was super organized and fast. The recruitment team communicated clearly from the start, giving me all the info I needed about what the interview would be like, the timing, and what they were looking for. This made me feel ready. The interview itself was with a panel who were really professional and nice, making it easy for me to talk about my past experiences. They asked good questions about my clinical rotations in MedSurg and ICU, and really seemed interested in what I want to do as a new grad. The questions were spot on for the job, and they let me explain a lot about how I'd fit into the ICU nurse role with my skills.
- What are your long-term career aspirations, and would you be content beginning your career in a Med-Surg role?
- Can you outline your 5-year career goals and confirm your willingness to start in a Med-Surg position?

So after you apply, a recruiter will reach out about a hiring event. When you get there, you'll get some tickets. They'll explain the whole thing, then you can go into a big room. Around the edges are tables, and at each one are two interviewers from a specific hospital and unit – like, say, North Cypress ICU or The Woman's Hospital Labor/Delivery. You pick a table, get in line, give them a ticket, and do your interview! If it goes well, they give you a ticket to the next room for round two. There, you'll chat with unit nurses or supervisors. They'll contact you within two weeks after the event if they want to offer you a job.
- What makes you want to work on this particular unit?
- Tell me about a time you had a really challenging patient situation and how you dealt with it.
- Could you go over your resume with me?
Registered Nurse
Applied online and got an interview from a recruiter. It was a panel interview with the nurse manager and two nurses from the floor. They were all really nice. They asked standard questions about how I handle stress and things like that. One nurse asked a clinical question. I was also asked what I'd do if I wasn't sure about a doctor's order. It was a really good experience overall.
- How do you handle stress?
