Radiology Department Assistant
You start with a screening call, then the main interview, which is behavioral, value- and scenario-based. If you pass that, there's an imposter check and a DBS check. Took me about a month in total.
- Describe your approach to managing an agitated or aggressive patient.
- In what ways do you align with HCA values, and how do you plan to integrate them into your daily tasks?
- Could you introduce yourself and highlight your pertinent experience?
Pharmacist
Got a call from the recruitment team first, and then they set up an in-person interview at the hospital. The interview was mostly about situations, like times I went the extra mile for a patient or improved pharmacy services. They also asked some clinical questions about monitoring gentamicin levels and things specific to pediatric patients. It's a good idea to brush up on the specialty you're interviewing for; someone I know got asked about nasogastric tubes. I got the job offer the same day, but the background check and onboarding took a while, delaying my start.
- Could you describe the monitoring requirements for Gentamicin?
- What are the key considerations when dealing with pediatric patients?
Pharmacy Assistant
After applying, I got an interview invite within a week. Recruitment rang me for a pre-screening first to ask about my job status, if I can work in the country, and what salary I was hoping for. Then they set up an interview for the next week. The interview had a lot of general questions and some about specific situations. A few days later, recruitment called me back with feedback and told me I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me about your current job?
- What skills do you possess that are relevant to this job?
- What motivates your interest in this role?
Corporate Affairs Manager
It was a really poor experience with the hiring manager. I had two interviews. The first was a 20 minute phone call. Then, an external recruiter invited me for a second round interview the following day on a Sunday morning! I was given a PowerPoint to prepare, and I did. The second round interview started with the hiring manager asking the same questions as the first round, so we spent another 20 mins going through the same questions. It was a tedious process with a hiring manager who clearly didn't take an interest or listen to my responses. Very disappointing as I had thoroughly prepared and given it my all, but knew I wouldn’t stand a chance once I saw her demeanour and attitude. I wasn’t offered the role and honestly wouldn’t have taken it if I had been, that’s how poor my experience was.
- How would you deal with strong personalities?
- How do you manage several competing priorities at once?
