First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hazelden Betty Ford.
Behavioral Health Technician
I applied for an on-call Behavioral Health Technician position. The interview was very brief. Although I was not hired because I could not do overnight shifts, the interviewer discussed the job duties. These included paying close attention to detail, ensuring patients get to their programs on time, providing support to patients who are having a difficult time, and teaching them coaching skills.

Development Services Coordinator
Had five virtual interviews. They asked a lot of layered questions, and some questions were repeated across interviews. You should be ready to talk about how you understand and have experienced DEI, and also to personally explain all the internal concepts they follow (which you can easily find on Google). The one-on-one interviews were pretty good and felt like they were going somewhere (they communicated clearly), but the last interview with the peer group was kind of rigid and formal.

Clinical Trainer Consultant
I applied for a position that was described as "remote/home office." I was contacted to complete a phone screening, and the hiring manager stated that their team is "100% remote." She then went on to say that the position requires 50% travel with overnight stays all over the country... I was stunned. How can a position be described as remote but require in-person travel? I went back and reviewed the job description thinking I had missed something, and sure enough, a travel requirement is never mentioned anywhere in the job description. You can't describe a position as remote and then require frequent in-person travel. Also I was never contacted after the phone screening with any updates, I was just ghosted. What a waste of time.

Web Production Specialist
The interview process began with a video call with the hiring manager, who asked some standard questions. Following this, I was told the next step was to provide professional references via Harver. I got an email with a link to create my profile on Harver to start sending out invitations to my references. Before sending the links, I checked with my references to see if they could be one of the seven references I needed to provide. Then, I began sending them the links to complete their feedback. My references submitted their feedback quickly, even over the weekend because they knew how excited I was about the role. On Monday, I updated the hiring manager that most of my references had submitted their feedback and the rest would be done mid-week. The hiring manager then asked for my availability for a video call with the VP and team members, which I provided. Later, after running some errands, I saw my scheduled interviews were canceled. I also received an email from the hiring manager stating that candidates need to answer a few questions as part of the reference checking process and that my status depended on a prompt reply. Another email followed, stating I was no longer being considered due to discrepancies with my references. I was confused and frustrated because I hadn't even had a chance to reply to the initial email. I responded with details about my interactions with each reference, including their job titles and companies, and provided screenshots of my initial messages asking them to be a reference. I haven't heard back. I also reached out to former colleagues for clarification on the reference discrepancies, but received no response, which is why I'm rating the experience negatively. This review isn't about Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's mission or work.
