First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Haworth Marketing + Media.
Media Planner
I initially applied for a Media Planner role and interviewed with the VP Media Director, which then led to four more short interviews. However, they ended up hiring someone with prior media planning experience for that position. Later, I applied again for a summer internship online. The application involved answering several questions, and this led to multiple interviews. After a long wait of many weeks, I was finally notified in June 2013 that I had been accepted for the summer internship.
- No unexpected or particularly difficult questions were asked; all interviews were quite straightforward. The online application avoided the 'tricky' questions sometimes used in advertising to gauge creativity. The most important qualities for Haworth seemed to be drive, a commitment to learn, contribute, and succeed, and strong overall business ethics, as interns are exposed to many work aspects and are productive. The company culture is great, and I'm excited to be a part of it every day!
Media Planner
They don't require prior experience for an assistant role, instead looking for enthusiastic college grads who are motivated and would fit into the very open work environment. Being confident and friendly is more important than skills because assistants are taught everything they need and can be promoted fairly quickly if they prove themselves.
- Were there any specific questions asked during the interview?
Media Planner
first spoke with someone from HR, then had a second meeting with more senior people. the interviews were pretty laid-back and conversational. it seemed like they really needed to hire someone quickly. we mostly talked about what it's like to work in media, the responsibilities of the role, and my previous work experience.
