First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Haverford College.
Assistant Professor
The interview process involved presenting my working paper and research agenda, which is standard. Student representatives were present to ask more about my teaching philosophy. There was also an emphasis on my teaching design and my approach to courses. Overall, it was a pleasant interview experience with very friendly interviewers.
- What does your research agenda look like for the next few years?
- Tell me about your course design.
Assistant Professor
The interview for the visiting assistant professor role was excellent. It was very organized, and I had great conversations that showed how my skills would fit the academic community. The friendly and supportive atmosphere, plus the lively campus, made me feel like this was the right place for me.
- What teaching approach will you bring for the superlab?
Assistant Professor
The interview process involved meeting with the department chair and several faculty members. Students were also present during a lecture. The questions asked were straightforward and fair. I ultimately turned down the position because the salary offered was very low, comparable to a doctoral student's pay, and they wouldn't negotiate after I presented my terms.
- What courses are you interested in teaching?
Software Engineer
So, there were 2 rounds for the interviews. The first one was with the hiring manager, and the second one was with the dev team. After the interviews, the hiring manager checked my references. Once all that was done, they sent me an offer by email.
- Questions about my background were asked.
- Questions about the software I would be working with were asked, focusing on my prior experience.
