First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harvard Student Agencies.
Core Management Team
This was the longest and most selective interview process among business groups at Harvard. The questions themselves weren't difficult, but the main focus was on whether you were a good fit for the company. It's crucial to get to know the current management team, especially if they're involved in recruitment, so attending their events is highly recommended. I applied before the early deadline, which allowed for a coffee chat that was very beneficial for me to present myself and have someone advocate for me.
- What questions would you pose if you were conducting this interview?
Tutor
It was super casual, just a chat with the hiring manager. I reached out via email and we met a couple days later in the HSA office. Mostly, I was asked about my motivation and my approach to teaching. The technical part wasn't a big focus, and the whole thing was pretty quick.
- Can you discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using a hashtable?
Web Developer
So the interview had me do a coding problem on a whiteboard, it wasn't too hard, and I had to explain my approach. There was also a part where they asked about my resume, why I wanted the job, and why I thought I'd be a good fit. Overall, it wasn't super challenging.
- How would you sort a list of numbers while also making sure there aren't any repeats?
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What motivates you to pursue this position?
Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. You just needed to come across as knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the business. For some of the case study or proposal questions, I had to show some creative thinking. It was also helpful to do some homework beforehand on which agencies would be the best fit for you.
- What's your motivation for getting into business?
- How would you manage to allocate sufficient time to HSA?
- Could you tell me your top three strengths?
