First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harrison School District 2.
Dean of Restorative Practices
The first interview was pretty short, max 30 minutes. The second interview was only 7 minutes long. I didn't get to ask any questions. I was told I'd hear back before Thanksgiving, but it's been a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything.
- Can you tell us a joke?
- Which part of a bicycle would you be, and why?
- What's your 'why'?
Teacher
After submitting my online application, which included a "personality quiz" with scenario-based and agree/disagree questions (answer with your gut feeling), I received a call within a week. The interview was directly with the school, bypassing district HR, which was convenient. I was asked scenario-based questions and had to deliver a short lesson to an administrator and two other teachers. I got the offer by the end of that week.
- What is your approach when a student refuses to complete their assigned work?
Human Resources Specialist
So on the day of the interview, I was told it'd be a panel interview with seven people. These included heads from other departments and some HR folks. They threw 19 questions at me, and the kicker was, they wouldn't explain or clarify anything, just let me repeat them. The questions were pretty standard stuff, like 'tell me about yourself' and asking about my HR experience. After they finished their questions, they opened it up for me to ask mine. I asked three standard questions. The last two, the ones about culture, got some snickers from the junior panel members.
- Can you tell me about a time a project you worked on failed, and what steps you took to fix it?
Math Teacher
So, the interview was pretty standard. Started with a phone call where they asked some set questions. Then, we moved to an in-person panel interview. This panel was made up of school staff, administration, and central administration. After that, I had a meeting with the team.
- Could you tell us about your experience?
