First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harrison College.
Student Affairs Specialist
I took a tour of the campus and met with the campus president and dean. They didn't seem to be on the same page about the position's responsibilities or the questions they would ask. After that, I didn't hear back for weeks. Then, I had a 30-minute call with a director where we talked about for-profit education, and they did most of the talking. Finally, I got a call about the job, and the whole process from applying to getting an offer took about three months.
- How would you approach a challenging situation with a student?
Director of Instructional Design and Development
It started with a quick phone screening, then I had a face-to-face interview with seven people. Most were in person, but two were on the phone. These included the person currently in the role, someone who reports to them, and leaders from other departments this job interacts with. It was a bit strange that the hiring manager wasn't there. The questions were all over the place, really depending on who was asking. A lot of it focused on my current job and changes I'd made. This past experience was super relevant. The interview wasn't too hard, mostly just talking about what I'd done and why I made certain decisions. Since the job involves managing people, they also asked about my management style and how I approach it, as they were keen on hiring someone who aligns with the company's values. After the main interview, things were quiet for about a month. Harrison was interested in moving forward, but it took a while. Eventually, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, and then a second phone interview with his manager. This second one was on a Saturday morning to work around the Provost's schedule. The hiring manager called right after that to offer me the job over the phone.

Student Affairs
I applied online and got a call a week later for an on-the-spot phone interview. A few days after that, I got a call to schedule a face-to-face interview. I met with the Hiring Supervisor, someone else in the same position, and the Campus President. They asked me mostly about my experience and how I would handle certain situations with students and faculty. I got an offer at the end of the week.
