First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harris County, Texas.
Change Manager
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter within days. The first call (HR Screening) was informative about the role, project, and timeline. After that, things went downhill. I had to chase for updates, with the recruiter always saying next week. Five weeks of this, and they ghosted me.
- Can you tell me about your experience in Change Management?
County Clerk
The whole thing took about three weeks from applying to getting the face-to-face interview after HR reached out. My supervisor was pretty chill, not pushy at all. Even though it felt like they were writing down everything I said. The interview itself was about 30-40 minutes. They went over the job duties and pay. They also let me know that if I were to get an offer, it would take another 2-3 weeks.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What would you do if a client was upset?
- Are you able to work in a stressful environment?
Contract Compliance Analyst
I applied on line and was then given a timed video interview. After that, I attended a round table interview with 5 people. Everything went very well and I was offered the job. However, I was offered entry level salary for someone with nearly 15 years experience. This is when I learned that it did not matter what was on my resume and only the information put into the application was considered. So... if they are looking for 8 years of xxxx, you have to list x for each year. I did not take the job because they would not allow me to "fix" this mistake and I could not live off the entry level salary they offered.
- How do you manage your time?
Compliance Auditor
The supervisor interviewed me during the 1st interview, which asked more general questions. The manager and the Assistant Chief of the department interviewed during the 2nd interview. The 2nd interview consisted of more in depth questions about various auditing methodology I have used in the past. In addition to those questions, I was asked my what accounting experience do I have.
- Can you explain how your current job duties align with the requirements of this position?
- Which auditing methodologies are you familiar with?
- Could you provide a detailed description of your current job duties?
