& Process

Had a quick chat with the Background Investigator. They asked me a bunch of stuff about my work history, how I filled out the application, and some things about the polygraph test. The whole thing took about an hour and a half. They were nice enough to offer me breaks and drinks, and even gave me a potential start date, assuming my background check comes back clean.

The whole hiring process took about 9 months to complete and had around 8 distinct steps. Initially, candidates had to pass a physical assessment test and a written test. This was followed by a background check. Then there was an interview, a medical test, and a psychological test. Finally, successful candidates would attend a 6-week academy program. The academy would teach the basic duties and laws relevant to the jailing system.

It was a really long interview process. After sending in the application and passing the physical test, the polygraph felt like the actual interview. It was super nerve-wracking, but it's important to be honest, even if you feel judged. Nobody's perfect, just learn from what you did wrong. Being a veteran really helps in this interview, and you'll probably be more used to the lifestyle, like not getting much sleep, having watch duty, doing paperwork, and going through training.

The hiring process for this role was quite lengthy, spanning about 6 to 8 months before entering the training academy. The academy itself was pretty basic, but rest assured, you'll pass it. The instructors were engaging and approachable. Just follow their instructions, and you'll do fine. There wasn't much formal studying involved. The schedule was 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with hour-long lunch breaks and no specific graduation ceremony.
