Senior Associate
The interview process involved two rounds. The first round was with HR and the hiring manager, and the second was with the head of HR. It was a relaxed interview, and the HR team was very friendly. The questions weren't overly difficult. The whole process was completed in under a month, and HR responded promptly to any questions I had.
- Can you discuss your previous work history?
- What are your immediate career objectives?
Data Engineer
So, for a Data Engineer role, it usually kicks off with a chat from the recruiter to go over your background and what you're looking for salary-wise. Then, there's a technical phone interview where they'll grill you on SQL, some coding like Python, Scala, or Java, and how you handle ETL. After that, you might have a system design chat to see if you can map out big data pipelines and storage systems. The final stage is typically an onsite thing with a few interviews covering data modeling, cloud stuff (AWS, GCP, Azure), and just general problem-solving, plus a behavioral part to see if you're a good fit culture-wise. Some places might throw in a take-home project or a live coding challenge too.
- Could you share how you've used Hadoop?
- Tell me about your experience using Hadoop.
Marketing
It was supposed to be a relaxed "getting to know you" chat, but it quickly became uncomfortable. The questions got more and more specific and extremely detailed, far beyond what a recent graduate would know. This made me feel very pressured as an applicant, and it turned into a "stress interview." All in all, it was far from a "casual getting to know you conversation."
- Can you provide detailed information about your previous employers?
- Could you describe in great detail your day-to-day tasks in the future job?
- What are the specific tasks involved in the daily business operations?
