First, a recruiter called to screen me. Then, I had a meeting with the hiring manager. In the second interview, they gave me a surprise assessment to check my analytical skills, including how well I know Excel formulas and queries. It was tough because it was remote and I had to share my screen during the live call.

The interview process kicked off with a recruiter who didn't share any details about the position or salary. Next up was the hiring manager, who also skirted the pay details, stating it's only discussed if an offer is extended. I didn't proceed to the third round, which would have been with the department director. Honestly, it felt like way too many steps for my current field, and having to meet with so many people without knowing if the pay even makes the job feasible is a bit much.

The managers were very professional, and had good manners. They described the job well, and informed me about the expectations and hotel rules, the process for taking holidays, and the shifts and rotations. This includes working Sundays, which are paid 1.5 hourly on daily dates, and 2 Sundays per month.

The job didn't say the pay, but asked for my desired salary. I found out during the phone interview that the pay is just over $16/hour, which was much lower than I wanted. During the in-person interview, they were worried the pay wouldn't be enough for me to stay long-term, so I agreed to $16, hoping it could be a stepping stone. I felt like I was led to believe I had the job, but I didn't get it. They said they found someone more qualified, which I don't understand given my qualifications. The interviewer was nice but seemed frustrated. I wouldn't apply there again. Big companies that don't disclose pay upfront often have embarrassingly low rates for the work they want done. They also don't want you asking for too much, but will waste your time. I also had to pay for parking, and the attendant initially argued about the discount and a list I was supposed to be on. This interview was a waste of time but good practice for a better job.
