I applied online and the recruiter got back to me via email about 2 weeks later. We scheduled a phone interview for the following week. After the call, about a week later, the recruiter emailed to let me know they were moving forward with another candidate. They communicated well throughout the process.

I was contacted by a recruiter via email for an interview opportunity. The recruiter's initial approach was a bit unusual, almost like a summons, and they were hesitant to disclose the company name or the product details, citing the existing Art Director's imminent departure. Despite my reservations, I agreed to an interview after learning more about the product, which I found interesting and saw potential in. The interviewer seemed nervous, spoke very quickly, and jumped between topics, preventing me from asking questions beyond clarifying the job title. It felt like the team was unsure of their needs. The office environment appeared to be a 'sweatshop,' and the employees seemed unhappy. Overall, it was a significant waste of my time.

It started with a phone screen with the hiring manager and my potential predecessor. Next, I presented my ideas for their social media strategy. I sent over my presentation afterwards, hoping for at least some feedback, but instead, they used my work for free and didn't even respond to my emails. I was never even told I didn't get the job! It was a really shady experience, and I'd warn anyone asked to do a presentation for them that they might just steal your work. Very poorly run hiring and bad ethics.
