First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hanson Professional Services.
Intern
It was a really smooth process. The people I met were friendly and easy to talk to. There were three interviewers, and they were all experts in my field. They were dressed in business casual attire. We started with some casual chat like 'how's your day going?'. Then, one of them explained the current projects and what they expect from interns. After that, we had a detailed discussion about the technical aspects, with a back-and-forth conversation.
- Can you share your past experiences and what motivated you to apply?
- What are your future career plans and your availability?
- Tell me about your experiences, your motivations, and what your future plans are, as well as your availability.
Environmental Consultant
I had a 30-minute phone call with the HR person. They asked me about challenges I'd dealt with, why I wanted this specific job, and just some general stuff about me and what I've done. The interviewer was nice, but they said I'd hear back in two weeks, and it's been longer than that. The company operates on a 'full disclosure' basis, meaning if I hadn't gotten the job, I would have been notified. It seems like they're running pretty late with everything.
- Can you tell me about a time you encountered a challenge while working as part of a team, and how you resolved it?
Engineering
A manager called a few days after I applied online. They seemed positive. Then I met with senior management for over an hour to discuss the job. It was mostly probing questions to see if I knew anyone at their clients. I didn't meet any office staff. The company has slow growth.
- Could you tell me a little about yourself?
Civil Engineer
It was a good interview, more of a discussion than anything. They wanted to learn about me and what they have to offer. They also talked about the kind of work they do at the company and the skills I could learn by working for them.
- What are your career interests at this company and which areas appeal to you most?
