Applied for the product design intern role, got past screening due to recruitment project experience. Had a 15-min recruiter call about the role, admin stuff, and what's next.

I reached out to the CEO directly about an interview opportunity, and they passed my information along to a hiring manager. The initial step was a phone interview, though the calendar invite suggested a video call. About six minutes past the scheduled start time, the interviewer emailed to have me call them instead. I apologized for the delay and hoped it wouldn't negatively impact my candidacy. I believe the call went well, and I was told I'd be speaking with another product designer the following week, with a follow-up promised. However, no follow-up occurred, even after I emailed five days later to inquire about my status. The day after that, I received an automated rejection. I responded, expressing that I would have preferred feedback on any potential misunderstanding during the phone call instead of an automated message. The hiring manager then replied, stating they were already far along in the process of hiring someone else, rendering my application unnecessary.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The phone interview went well and I made sure to convey my strong interest in the role and the company. After that, I was invited to a Past Work Session with one of the two Heads of Product Design. The recruiter had asked me to prepare 2-3 projects for this session. However, when the session started, it turned out we would only be reviewing one project, which was quite a letdown. Even the interviewer seemed surprised that I had prepared multiple projects. In the end, I didn't get the offer because they felt my work lacked breadth, which is understandable given we only reviewed one project. I tried to discuss this with the company, but they didn't offer me another interview opportunity.
