First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Handshake.
Customer Support Specialist
Started with an initial screener with the hiring manager. Then, I had an online task on the handshake platform, which was pretty straightforward. After that, there was a team interview where I answered questions from five team members. Then another interview with a hiring manager. Got rejected, but they offered to interview me for another position, saying I'd be a great addition. So, I had another video call interview with a hiring manager for that role. They said everything went great and I'd get more details soon. Then I got ghosted, no response to any follow-up, which is pretty rude after all the hours I put in.

Customer Support Specialist
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about the Customer Support Specialist Role and got an overview. Then, I did a take-home assignment where I had to troubleshoot different Handshake Software cases. After that, I interviewed with Customer Support Specialists, the Head of University Support, and the Co-Founder. They were all great and wanted to see if I was a good fit for the role and culturally. Then, I gave references and got offered the job a week later. The whole process was professional and fast, and I didn't have to wait long for updates. Shout out to Emily, Jordan, Joe, Larry, and Ben for the amazing experience!
- What are your thoughts on diversity in the workplace?
Customer Support Specialist
This job required 4 interviews, and I honestly thought I'd get an offer after the first two. Each one was about 30 minutes. It was unusual to have 4 interviews, but I figured they just wanted to be thorough. They made me submit a whole week's availability for each interview, which was frustrating to do and then have to be ready if an interview was scheduled. One interview started 15 minutes late, and another got rescheduled because they forgot to confirm with me. Besides the interviews, there was a 2-hour take-home test where I had to explore the product and answer questions. They mentioned the pay was between 50-55k, which seemed low considering the job requires at least 50 hours a week, plus more during busy times. I only found out another candidate was chosen when I emailed HR; otherwise, I might still be waiting. Overall, considering the time commitment, the whole process felt complicated and ultimately pointless. When you're job hunting, time is money, so putting in so much effort with no result is tough.
