First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hampshire County Council.
Consultant
I had an interview where 3 people were present. I gave a presentation that I only had 20 minutes to prep for, followed by a Q&A session. There was also a casual coffee chat with 2 team members, but I'm not sure if that was officially part of the interview process.
- What value would you bring to the team?
Social Worker
You have to apply on the council's website first, where you'll have to answer some questions. Then they'll let you know if you get an interview. There were about 3 stages to the interview. The first stage was a reflection task, the second was a role play case scenario, and the third was a general interview.
- Why were you interested in joining our team?
Query Administrator
The interview process was pretty standard. I filled out an application, then went through a STAR interview and three written tests. Two people interviewed me and took notes while we spoke. Nothing out of the ordinary. About a week later, I was contacted and although I wasn't offered a permanent role, they did offer me a year-long contract, which I took.
- Can you describe how you would handle challenging issues that require escalation?
Administrator
You will get an interview letter one week prior and can pick your interview slot online. You will have 25 minutes to complete three pre-interview tasks, followed by a 40-minute interview on Teams with two friendly interviewers.
