First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hampshire College.
Academic Affairs
The application process was simple. We had two rounds, the first was on Zoom and the second was in-person. It involved meeting with a committee and talking with people from around campus, which was really collaborative. They asked about anti-racism and college values. They also wanted to know how I would connect with the student body.
- Can you describe your commitment to justice, equity, and anti-racism?
Job Candidate
The admins and search committee were great. They were thoughtful, professional, on time, and helpful with special requests. I felt really good about the university's academic and administrative setup and was excited about potentially joining. I learned a lot about the university's focus on both interdisciplinary research and on including service/activism in academic work.

Admissions Director
The interview process was a really positive experience. The committee made me feel comfortable and engaged in a discussion rather than bombarding me with questions. The questions were insightful and straightforward, aligning well with the role's requirements. The committee members were also very friendly, warm, and welcoming.
- What are your thoughts on the travel requirements for this position?
Web Developer
I had two interviews, scheduled about a month apart. The first one was over the phone and lasted about an hour. The second interview was in person and went for about three to four hours. I met with roughly eight people from the Information Technology department during that second interview.
