The panel was friendly, but the role itself was poorly defined. There was no job description, unclear objectives, and the interviewers themselves seemed unsure about the position's purpose. It felt like a premature hiring effort. The CIO was late, seemed confused, and was rude and interruptive. He left the interview early, and honestly, I should have left too. Unprofessional leadership, a disservice to students.

Got the call for an interview about two weeks after applying. It was a panel/group interview where they asked me about my abilities. They also talked about the staff/professors and how difficult they are to deal with, which was the only unprofessional part. I was told the position was for a certain shift, but then they called asking me to work overnights, which was never discussed initially. Usually, overnights are brought up at the start to make sure no one's time is wasted on a position they can't fill.

Hiring at different departments is handled separately from HR, which provides flexibility for all involved. The process isn't very structured. You can negotiate a lot. You'll appreciate not having to work directly with HR if you get a job at Hamline. The interviews went by fast.
