First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Halston.
Marketing Specialist
I had an interview at my school where they asked me basic questions about myself and my knowledge of the company. It went well and the interviewer took notes on the department I was interested in. It wasn't hard at all; I just needed to research the company beforehand to have some good points to bring up, which I did.
- What can you tell me about Halston?
Shop Manager
I had 3 interviews. First, I spoke with the ASM of the flagship store. Then, I interviewed with the GM, who was soon to be the Area Manager. Finally, I met with the VP of Retail. They asked me about my sales approach, my experience with visuals, how I handle interactions with associates, my problem-solving skills, and my understanding of fashion and current trends. I also asked some questions about the business, specifically about numbers and KPIs, since it's a new company and I wanted to be clear on expectations.
- In your opinion, what's the most crucial element of selling?
Intern
I got a call about 3 days after applying for some intern positions and we scheduled an interview for the following Tuesday. I got an email with directions. When I arrived, two HR people interviewed me. I had my portfolio and they recommended a department that was in my top 3, though not my first choice. They asked when I could start, and said they'd let me know the following Monday or Tuesday because they had a lot of interviews that week. I got a call Monday about being placed and to choose a start date and my availability for two days. I got a confirmation email with directions, dress code, a tour, and what paperwork to bring to HR on my first day. It was all very organized and efficient. I'm excited to work there and hope there will be job opportunities after the internship since the company is growing.

Sales Associate
The interview was at the store in Beverly Center. The people were nice, but the store itself was empty, looking old with no customers. I spoke with the store manager.
- Do you have prior sales experience?
