The HackerOne team was great at communicating and got back to me fast. I heard from them about 6 days after applying and got an offer in less than a month. They did mention a company offsite happened during this time, so things were paused for a week. I went through 6 interviews: first, a quick chat with the recruiter, then a culture and knowledge chat with the hiring manager. After that, two culture chats with some technical staff, then a live coding session with a senior engineer, and finally a take-home project with a presentation for leadership. Even though it sounds like a lot, everyone was really nice and the interviews were enjoyable. The coding tasks and take-home project felt just right for someone at my level.

The interview process for this Staff Data Engineer role at HackerOne was pretty standard. It included a recruiter screen, followed by a manager interview. Then there was a technical screen with a short coding exercise, and an interview with an executive stakeholder. The process finished with a take-home assignment that required a presentation. The communication throughout was excellent, and everyone I spoke with was very friendly and approachable. They clearly explained the expectations and topics for each interview stage, which really helped reduce stress.
