Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hachette Book Group.
Intern
I had a quick phone interview to start, then a longer video one. The first was with HR and asked about my background. The second was short too, with someone from the department.
- Can you tell me about how you stay organized?
Intern
So I started with a phone screen with HR, then had an in-person with the hiring manager. The last thing was I had to send in writing samples to the hiring manager, which they asked for at the end of our interview. They offered me the internship that same week.
- Can you share some of your favorite books?
- Could you briefly discuss your resume experience and how it relates to this role?
Intern
Had an online recorded virtual interview and then a phone call interview with the recruiter. It wasn't a great interview, as the recruiter asked the same questions from the recorded interview, making it redundant. The recruiter also asked if I could apply to other internships but wouldn't expedite the process, just wanted to ask about other imprints.
- What draws you to publishing?
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Can you name a recent book you read from this imprint?
