Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Habitat for Humanity.
Director
Had a really good and engaging initial call with the recruiter. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager, who seemed to have a really clear idea of what they wanted. After that, I met with some other important people. It was cool to see how talented, dedicated, and energetic everyone was.
- The Hiring Manager's questions were aligned with the job description.
- Stakeholders asked about experience relevant to their specific roles and needs.
Director
The interview process involved several steps, including Zoom interviews, meetings with staff, and discussions with board members. They also asked about references and delved into probing questions about my experience, qualifications, commitment to the mission, understanding of the organization, and my reasons for choosing Habitat.
- Tell me about your experience in this field.
- Could you share your references?
- What qualifications and experience do you bring?
Director
The interview process was unimpressive. They interviewed for a high-level position with international scope, but the process was very unprofessional, conducted by a recent hire. They posted the opportunity as remote-only, but then rejected candidates for not wanting to relocate. They allowed candidates to get far into the process before rejecting them with zero feedback. At this level of opportunity, solid feedback is expected.
