Sales Representative
I got referred and my resume was submitted. The next day, I got a call to chat casually about why I'm looking for a new job and what interests me about Gusto. After that, I was told I was moving on and would get an email with a written assessment. Later that day, I got the Sneak Peek assessment, which just asks questions like you'd get on the job to see how you'd answer and if you can research. I sent that in the next day and then got invited for an in-person interview. It was scheduled for a week later and was going to be 2.5 hours long on site. You have 3 interviews back-to-back, about 30 minutes each. Two are skills-based, and the last one is values-based to see what you care about. They seem pretty selective, which is good!
- What are your values?
- Can you share the best feedback you've received and explain why it was the best?
- Tell me about the worst feedback you have received and the reasons behind it.
Sales Representative
The interview process started with a 30-minute phone call which was really nice. After that, there was a take-home assignment that involved some research. The final stage was a 3-round interview that took place in the office. The interviews themselves were interesting and the people were great, but some of the questions were a bit tough. For example, I was asked how many people I could call from a list of 1000 by the end of the week. I wanted to say all of them, but realistically, I wasn't sure because I don't know how long a sales call typically takes.
- Can you share a personal low point from your work history?
- How would you go about prioritizing a list containing 100 clients?
- Tell me about a personal challenge you encountered and the steps you took to overcome it.
Sales Representative
I got into this role through an employee referral. A recruiter reached out about a week later. My first chat was a phone interview with a sales manager. He was nice, but it felt like he wasn't used to doing this part. Next, I went in for a 2.5-hour in-person interview, which included 4 separate interviews. I put in a lot of prep time learning about the company, and the recruiter was super helpful with that. There was an assignment to do beforehand, but I think it was mainly to check if I'd follow instructions since I'm not sure if they even looked at it given my interviews. The interviews themselves were okay and informative, though it's tough to sit in a conference room for over 2 hours and feel like you're presenting your best self. I'm giving the process a thumbs down because I spent about 10 hours total preparing and interviewing, and I don't think the structure really helped me as a candidate. I didn't get an offer, but the recruiter did call me directly, which was a nice touch. I was bummed and frustrated by the reason they gave for not moving forward, as I really wanted this job.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations for a customer?
