I talked with 4 people in the department. I got an email before each interview telling me what it would be about. Everyone was really nice and it felt pretty casual and easy going.

Behavioral Technical

Gusto's recruiting process was really smooth, one of the best I've seen! It had 4 main parts. First up was a behavioral phone chat with an engineer, where they asked about why I was interested in Gusto and my past experiences from my resume. Then, I had two 1-hour technical phone screens using CodePad, which were pretty straightforward. The last part was an on-site interview, though I got to do it remotely. This included a 45-minute behavioral chat, mostly asking how I'd handle different scenarios or my experiences with specific things, and a 75-minute technical interview where I actually got to fix a bug in their real code. All my interviewers were super helpful and seemed really passionate about their work. After I got the offer, everyone who interviewed me explained exactly what they liked about me and why they thought I earned it. It was really nice and felt super personal.

Case Behavioral

The interview process was tough, but the team was really supportive and provided lots of info throughout. I had several phone chats to get me ready for the in-person interview, and they even did a nice follow-up call to talk about how it went.
