First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Gun.io.
Software Engineer
It was a technical interview for a Backend Engineer position. They asked me about how to approach a business problem using Domain-Driven Design. We also talked about database optimization with PostgreSQL and how to use caching to improve an existing codebase.
- How can Domain-Driven Design be applied to solve a specific business problem?
- What are some techniques for optimizing PostgreSQL databases?
- How would you use caching strategies to enhance an existing codebase?
Backend Engineer
The interview process had two parts. First, I talked with the team I'd be joining about the tech stack needed for the job and my history with it. Second, I interviewed with the CEO and COO to check for cultural fit and past experiences.
- Tell me about your experience using the VueJS framework on past projects.
- Can you describe your experience with the technology stack required for this role?
- What are your previous experiences that align with this role?
Customer Success Manager
First, there was a phone screen where we talked about general stuff, like my career goals. Then, a technical interview focusing on Customer Success Management. After that, I met with the CEO for a deep dive into my past work experiences. Finally, we discussed the offer and negotiated.
- Can you share details about the most difficult project you've managed in your professional history?
Software Engineer
Got on an onboarding call with them, it was a cohort of 8 and everyone was given a deadline of 2 days to fill the profile. They have a very specific profile structure and need some effort to write. They don't mention it initially but they have a coding test + a couple of rounds of interviews. After that also it seemed competitive to find a job.
