Research Assistant
The hiring process was quick and the recruiter was really nice. They asked some interesting questions trying to get a good sense of who I am. The recruiter was very helpful and answered everything I asked. Overall, I had a really good time during the interview.

- Recruiter was very informative and answered all questions.
Second Officer
I applied through the company website and followed up with phone calls and emails. Having a friend within the company helped me get a reference. They provisionally accepted my application based on my CV and certifications, pending a telephone interview. The interview felt structured, like a checklist, asking basic experience questions that any deck officer should be able to answer. However, I was told to elaborate since the HR staff interviewing for junior officer roles might not be as familiar with marine operations as Masters or CEngs would be for senior roles. For Masters and CEngs, interviews usually happen at the office and might include an onboard assessment. All new hires have a 6-8 month probation period with a performance review afterward, assuming good performance and sobriety.
- Can you describe your experience with Life Saving Appliances (LSA)?
Software Development Process Owner
I got hired through an agency that offered me a better deal than GulfMark's standard contracts. Their standard contracts don't pay much. GulfMark offered me a better vessel than the one they ultimately sent me on; I wouldn't have accepted it if I'd known, as I had better-paying offers at the same time. I felt a bit misled. During the second term, I finally got the vessel I expected, which they had to give me because they're always short-staffed.
- Given their staffing shortages, do you expect the interview questions to be easy?
Project Manager
i was recmmended to run the project, interview was arraqnged to understand personality, qualifications and prior experience. discussions ensued on pay package and accommodation, two months after i was accepted
- How would you handle a situation with an unethical board member?
- Can you outline the project approval process and its lifecycle, and what's your strategy for meeting deadlines?
