Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Guitar Center.
Sales Associate
It was a pretty straightforward interview. I met with the store lead and the customer service manager. They asked me questions about selling and pro audio gear. We also did some sales role plays where they asked how I would approach different customer scenarios.
- What would you ask a customer looking for a home studio setup?
Sales Associate
It was pretty fast and simple. They mostly asked about when I could work and if I played any musical instruments. They also asked why I was interested in working there. There were also a few 'tell me about a time' questions. Overall, it was a really laid-back and nice experience.
- Are you available to work on weekends?
- Tell me about a time when you had to handle a difficult situation.
- Why do you want to work here?
Sales Associate
I applied online at guitarcenter.com and immediately met with the store manager the same day. We had a casual one-on-one chat in his office for a good amount of time, discussing my background as a musician and my previous work experiences. The conversation was mostly about music and the operations of Guitar Center. They were assessing my communication skills and how I'd interact with new people. Afterward, I met the two associates I'd be working with in the department.
- What is your definition of integrity?
