The difficulty of interviews and how fast you hear back can really depend on how badly a school needs teachers and how many people apply. For my first job, they hired me right away with super easy questions because that school was desperate for teachers. For other schools, they asked about using data tools, my knowledge of CKLA, MTSS, and classroom management. If you know a principal, try to get a feel for potential questions beforehand. If you have a dream school, maybe don't use it for your first interview to get some practice. You want to move fast though, because the 'better' schools get filled up quickly.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • What are your strategies for managing a classroom and what's your knowledge of MTSS?
  • Can you tell me about CKLA and how you use and track student data to address their needs?
  • How do you involve parents in their child's education?

interviewed at county level with a panel of principals and then scored based on interview, scores are sent out to individual principals, who then call you for a second interview, then interviewed by a team at the school level, saves lots of time for the school because teachers are vetted at the county level, good experience overall, actually got calls from the principals I interviewed with at the county level after I had accepted my job

You apply online and also send principals your resume and cover letter. About half of them never acknowledge they received anything from you. Interview with principal or assistant principal. The process varies from school to school.
