First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Guilford County of North Carolina.
Social Worker
The interview process involved a panel interview with set questions. They asked hypothetical scenarios like 'what would you do if…?', past experiences like 'Had there ever been a time…?', about your strengths and weaknesses, and why you're the best fit for the job.
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with your supervisor. What happened?
- Describe a situation where you disagreed with a policy.
EMT-B
I felt the interview process was really stressful because there were so many applicants, which made it feel rushed. The accident scenarios presented seemed to be the absolute worst-case possibilities. I get that the job is inherently high-stress, but this felt like a September 11th level of disaster scenario. It would have been more helpful to include every possible scenario rather than just one that makes a positive outcome practically impossible.
- Can you share a personal weakness or a negative personality trait you possess?
Child Support Agent
I had a panel interview with 3 people: two supervisors from the office and an HR representative. They asked a lot of situational questions about handling angry customers and the work environment. I was also asked for advice I'd give my supervisor, and I got to ask them questions too.
- What advice would you give your supervisor?
Facilities Analyst
I met with a group of about 5 people who were from different departments that would work with this role. They asked me questions from a packet. It was a good experience, but I didn't have enough relevant work experience.
- Tell me about your background in facilities management.
- What experience do you have with facilities management software?
