Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Guidewire.
User Researcher
The whole process takes about 4-6 weeks. First, a recruiter will chat with you to see if you're a good fit and what your motivations are. Then, you'll have 2-3 rounds of discussions with other UX Researchers and UX Designers. After that, there are 2 rounds with the hiring managers. The last round is with the whole team, where you'll do a presentation and a quick research activity. They're looking at how you'd fit in, how you explain your methods, your thought process, and how adaptable you are.
- Can you describe your process for developing research plans and how you select appropriate methods?
- How do you go about choosing research methodologies?
UX Designer Intern
The entire experience from applying on LinkedIn to getting the offer took about 6 weeks. There were 3 interview stages: a screening, an interview with the hiring manager, and finally an interview with the team that included presenting my portfolio/projects. I heard back about 3 weeks after applying, and then about a week after each interview. Everyone I met was super nice and made me feel welcome. There was a hiccup during my second interview with a broken meeting link, but they fixed it fast and we carried on as planned.
- Tell me about why you're interested in this role.
- What do you know about UX/UI design?
- Could you walk us through your chosen case study?
UX Designer
First up, they screen your application and resume to see if you match the job. Then, there's a quick phone or video chat to check your basic skills and experience. After that, they might give you some tests to see how good you are at stuff. The main part is the in-person interviews where you meet people, show what you can do, and see if you fit in. Finally, they let you know their decision.
- What makes you the right candidate for this position?
