I had a 1-hour video call with the hiring manager who was really into the role and gave me a good vibe about it. She went deep into the responsibilities but skipped over salary and the hiring timeline, and the call ended before I could even ask. She mentioned how much work there was to do, making me think she never took a break because she was so swamped, which felt like a red flag. She fast-tracked me to the team interviews. The next week, I met with three team members for 30 minutes each. They each asked really specific questions about different aspects of the job. I did my best to answer, but I realized the role was a lot more demanding than the hiring manager suggested. One interviewer kept stressing the importance of following through and not overcommitting, which I felt was a subtle jab at the current manager who might be overpromising and underdelivering. I sent thank you notes afterward but didn't hear back for two weeks. The hiring manager eventually got back to me, saying she was checking in with the team and asked me to hang tight while she got their feedback. That was two months ago. Clearly, I didn't get the job, but I still haven't received a rejection or even a thank you for my time. I guess I dodged a bullet; she's probably too busy to even send out an automated rejection.

The interview process was good. I first got an email to arrange a phone interview which was fine; all the basic CV information in review and a couple of simple questions. Mostly to get to know you personally and whether you fit the basic requirements of the job. After that, I was scheduled for 3 in-house interviews. They were moderately difficult but all interviewers were very welcoming and understanding of nerves. The interview structure was more conversation and idea based than traditional. The final step in the interview process was a Skype interview with an overseas manager. This was quick and simple and mostly used to discuss ideas.

I had one initial interview with a Talent Acquisition Manager. After that, I went through 6 more interviews with the hiring manager, team members, the department head, and the Legal Counsel. All of these interviews were conducted over Zoom because of COVID-19. The whole process lasted 4 weeks. It was a really thorough, smooth, and enjoyable experience. A perfect experience!
