First, there's a technical test using LeetCode or a similar tool, lasting 1h30min to complete two or three exercises. It's important to know regex, algorithms, and collections. Second, an interview in English with a company programmer. It's important to know fundamentals like OOP, Java keywords, and do two exercises: one creating a function and another correcting a function or a block of incorrect code. Knowing Java I/O, polymorphism, and how to handle instances is important.

Technical Coding Behavioral

I applied online for the Java Developer role at Guidewire in Mississauga. The whole process took over 3 weeks, which felt a bit long. After the initial HR call, which was about a week later, I received a link for a technical assessment. This assessment had two coding questions focused on Java arrays and I had 1.5 hours to complete it. A week after submitting the assessment, I had a 30-minute interview with the Hiring Manager. Then, another week passed, and I had a telephonic technical interview with both the Hiring Manager and the Team Lead.

Coding Technical Behavioral Presentation

The interview process started with a two-hour Codility programming test that had two unique and fun questions. These questions tested data structure knowledge and problem-solving intuition. After that, there was a video interview with an employee, which included basic JAVA, SQL, database questions, and questions about the final year project. A technical problem was also presented on a collaborative online editor. This was followed by a 3-hour on-site interview, including a tour and meeting staff. The on-site involved a technical interview (similar to the video but on a whiteboard, more collaborative), a cultural interview, and a hiring manager interview. The latter two involved discussions about the company, roles, the candidate's background, ambitions, and reasons for wanting to work there, assessing customer/colleague interaction skills and alignment with the company's three core values. The interviewers were friendly, making it feel like a collaborative problem-solving session. Although an offer was not received due to withdrawing the application, the process seemed positive.
