Billing Intern
The hiring process was really simple and went smoothly from beginning to end. It was a stress-free and pleasant experience overall. First off, applying was easy with clear instructions and not too many steps. Sending in my resume was fast and easy, and I liked that they were upfront about what came next.
- Could you start by telling me a bit about yourself?
- What made you want to apply for this specific role?
- What information do you have about our company?
Customer Service Representative
After submitting my application online, I was contacted within a week. The process kicked off with a Spark Hire video interview, followed by a phone interview a few days later. Just one day after the phone interview, I received a job offer. The questions were pretty standard, focusing on past experiences using the STAR method, and they were really interested in my leadership and communication abilities.
- Describe a situation where a customer was unhappy with a service or product and explain how you resolved it.
Sales Director
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn about a Regional Sales Director role. Despite currently working for a competitor in a related insurance segment, I researched the company and agreed to a phone interview with the recruiter. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent the recruiter hadn't reviewed my profile, asking basic questions already available on LinkedIn. I spent an hour researching the company, but the recruiter seemed to not have spent even 5 minutes on my profile. After the call, I sent my tailored resume and cover letter. A week passed with no response, so I followed up via email and LinkedIn, but still heard nothing after 4 weeks. I find this lack of communication unprofessional, especially after they initiated contact and implied I was a good fit.
- Are you located within the required sales territory?
- What is your experience in the insurance sector?
Claims Adjuster
So the interview process was pretty good. I felt like I really clicked with the people on the hiring panel and then I even got to speak with the CCO, which was nice. I was pretty sure I was going to get an offer, and they did end up offering me the job. The salary they offered was okay, but not amazing. I was also talking to another company at the same time, so I asked if they could negotiate the salary. They gave me the impression they might, but in the end, they said they couldn't. It was a tough decision, but I decided to turn it down. I didn't want to mess up my relationship with the hiring team because we got along so well. But honestly, after all that back and forth, talking to everyone from the panel to upper management, and then me declining their offer...it was really weird that they just went silent. I wasn't expecting a huge response, but the radio silence felt pretty cold. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I just think relationships are important, no matter the job. I hope this company can learn to be a bit more considerate towards candidates they don't hire. You never know when someone might change their mind.
