Guggenheim Museum Interview Questions
& Process

It was a quick, straightforward interview. They asked basic questions about communications and social media. Unfortunately, they didn't get back to me or follow up after the interview, which was pretty frustrating and inconsiderate. I think they put too much stock in their name; they should treat candidates with more respect.

The interview process was straightforward and efficient, involving meaningful discussions with multiple people in the department. It included both in-person and virtual meetings, but the compensation offered was a bit low. There were multiple rounds of vetting, reflecting a mission-focused approach.

I applied in 2013 and heard back about three weeks later via email. They asked for my availability for an interview. The Box Office Manager and her supervisor interviewed me. The Box Office Manager gave me the wrong address. I went to the address and knew it was wrong because it was across the street from the museum and under construction. I called the manager to confirm and she said it was correct. I had to go into the museum and ask security guards where to go. I didn't tell them about the address issue. I wasn't offered the job because I couldn't make all the events.

I applied online just before the Nov 1 deadline and didn't hear back until mid-January, when I got invited for a phone interview. They mentioned they were behind schedule and I should have been interviewed in December. The interview was with my supervisor and another staff member, which caught me off guard. I managed to stay calm and answer questions, even though I had trouble hearing them sometimes. Mostly, they talked about the intern's responsibilities, so it was important to sound enthusiastic and connect my interests, work, or education to the role. I got the internship offer just 3 days later. The Registrar department takes only one intern, and there are about 25 interns across the museum.
