This was by far the worst interview experience I've had. Management companies often say the market for PMs is tough and they use sign-on bonuses to get us. I was surprised by the unprofessionalism. You hear things about a company and hope they aren't true... but they are! Do what you say you're going to do and don't leave people hanging.

I recently relocated to Portland, OR, and was in urgent need of employment. Despite having no prior experience in property management, I was very keen on securing this position. The interview was conducted concurrently by the community manager and the regional manager. They fostered a very welcoming and conversational atmosphere. I was first interviewed over the phone. Then I came into the office to complete an application and met my future boss briefly. A few days later, I was called back for a one-on-one interview where I also took a personality test. I got a tour of the property and was given a job description. Then I was instructed to pay for a drug test myself, which took about a week to process.
