So I applied and then a recruiter emailed me and we did a quick chat. Then she sent my stuff to the hiring manager and I had an interview with them. It was pretty chill, she was really nice. I also talked to another manager and the AVP of HR.

So first there was a phone interview. After that, I had an in-person interview with a VP and also someone from HR. The person who did the phone interview, they actually walked me to and from the in-person interviews.

It started with a phone interview which was pretty good. The questions were clear and easy to answer, all relevant to the job. I think I did well. Then I was asked to come in for an in-person interview. They made a comment about older employees leaving, which felt like they were trying to appeal to a younger candidate, but I've got the skills of a younger designer. The in-person meeting was about 30 minutes and felt really awkward. It seemed apologetic and disorganized, and the questions they asked didn't seem to relate to the job at all, kind of condescending. The interviewer was nice but looked uncomfortable. I was a bit irritated by the vague questions. At the end, they weirdly brought up my desire for a full-time commitment, which we hadn't discussed. I sent a follow-up email explaining my interest in full-time work and clarifying anything I thought was unclear. No response. That's not okay after an in-person interview.

The corporate recruiter will have a casual conversation to understand your motivations for applying and your past work experiences. After that, you'll have multiple meetings with different managers in your department. The process concludes with a final discussion with the head of HR, and possibly another interview with upper management involved in the hiring for this role. It's a bit of a long process, but they are thorough and nice.
