First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GSI.
Intern
This 45-minute interview was structured, focusing on my resume. They asked me specific questions about my school projects, my classes, and my past internships. The main goal was to see my technical skills and hands-on experience. We talked about how I used what I learned in class to solve problems, the size and effect of my projects, and what I learned during internships. It was a clear and focused chat where I could really explain my background.
- Can you tell me about the projects you did at school?
Software Engineer
Had a 30-minute call with the recruiter, went through my education and past work stuff, and asked about my current situation. The recruiter was late and the call was shorter than 30 minutes. Not too many tech questions.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle conflict.
Senior Design Engineer
It started with a phone screen with a couple of engineering managers. Then for the onsite, I interviewed with four people. Three were engineers and one was from HR. They asked a mix of standard questions and some others. Each interview was about an hour long. I had lunch with someone during one of the interviews. It was a pretty straightforward interview with no trick questions.
- Are you more of an innovator or an implementer?
- How would you add to GSI's culture?
- Have you used a stage gate or toll gate process for new product development?
Sales Coordinator
The interview happened in a container room with the department manager and an HR manager who seemed arrogant. They started by introducing the company, then explained how to structure interview answers. After a practice question, they asked about 10 questions based on their guide, requiring answers based on past experiences in similar situations.
- Can you describe how you successfully manage multiple tasks?
