I went through a full day of interviews and prep with several people at GSD&M. A mutual connection introduced me, and it started really positive, with the CMO interested in salary talk and even a possible agency tour. I really thought things were moving forward based on our talks from October 2nd for weeks. When I followed up twice about salary, the vibe changed. They said they were still interviewing others. I followed up two more times since then and got no reply. This whole thing, in a tough market, actually hurt my job search because I got my hopes up and invested a lot based on their enthusiasm and signals. It was super disappointing to get no update or closure after about a month and a half. I get that teams are busy, timelines shift, and hiring is unpredictable, but a simple follow-up or status update would have been great. Candidates put in real time, energy, and hope, and not communicating reflects badly.

I talked with Lisa, the Associate Director of Talent Acquisition at GSD&M, Evan, VP of Digital, and Dave, CMO. Lisa was great at communicating and keeping things moving. She was really nice and made me feel good about the company. Dave met with me during the holidays which I really appreciated because it let me see the office and meet the leader I'd be working with. He was really kind and funny, which was a big change from previous managers I've had, and made me want to accept the job offer.

The GSD&M interview process was great regarding communication. I first chatted with a recruiter about my career goals and salary needs. She then consulted with their Head of Social, who suggested I might be a better fit for a more senior role. The recruiter informed me about this possibility and offered to schedule a call now or for when that higher-level position opened up. She was very upfront that they weren't sure about the timeline for that role but that we'd be in touch. I really appreciated their honesty and the useful feedback they provided!

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I applied and then had a phone interview with the strategy team, which included the CSO and 2 VPs. After that, they flew me in for an in-person interview where I met with about 6 people from the strategy, creative, and account leadership teams. It was all pretty informal and informational. I felt like it was one of those situations where you either fit the mold or you don't. There's no way to 'hack' this one, other than to be the right fit.
