The interview process is pretty standard. It generally involves a phone interview, then a Zoom call, and then probably a third and final interview to wrap things up. The interviewer didn't seem too interested; I guess I wasn't the typical candidate they were used to. They didn't ask much and talked a lot. That company will just be a phase.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was a big letdown and felt like a waste of my time and money. I wasn't actively looking for a new job, but a recruiter reached out, and given the brand's appeal, I decided to explore the opportunity. Initially, I spoke with the recruiter, then the hiring manager and HR, followed by an interview with the CFO. I was selected as a finalist and invited for a full day of in-person interviews at their San Antonio office, meeting with various individuals, including the CEO. My interviews seemed to go well, and they were pleased with my personality test results, seeing me as a good fit. The next day, the recruiter mentioned positive feedback and the possibility of a CEO interview and offer negotiation. However, after a week with no follow-up, I contacted the recruiter again. They explained the delay was due to the Memorial Day sale and travel, and I was still one of two finalists. When I asked how to strengthen my candidacy, the recruiter asked me to create a strategic vision for my first few months, which I did, despite reservations about unpaid work. A week after submitting that, I received acknowledgment but no decision, citing busy travel schedules. This prompted me to lose interest, questioning their process. After another two weeks (over a month post-final interview), I followed up again. The recruiter offered more excuses, the most notable being that they decided to pause the search for a Director and were considering a VP or SVP role instead, which seemed odd given their stated need for middle management. This contrasted with their simultaneous LinkedIn postings for lower-level eCom roles. Ultimately, I considered it a waste of my time and money, but I'm relieved to have avoided a potentially toxic environment. While the interviewers were pleasant, their indecisiveness, disrespect for candidates' time, and inconsistent hiring strategy were significant red flags. This experience has lost them not only a potential employee but also a customer.

I was offered a beer when I first met the interviewer. We talked about my resume and my experience in sales, my patriotism, and my background. He was impressed and set up a meeting with his mentor to discuss me and another candidate. A couple of days later, we met again. We both had the same resume for two great salesmen we wanted to hire. We were both confused when we opened the folders. He asked if I could start on Tuesday. I was the first civilian full-time hire when the company had only five employees. Now we have 200 veterans and patriots, and I'm proud to have been part of it from the beginning.

I got a call, then nothing for about two weeks. Suddenly, they called back to schedule an interview. It was ridiculous! All I know is I'm leaving soon because I don't like the culture; it's a sad place.
