Had a phone interview first with a team member, which was a good conversation. Even though I told them I was busy for over two weeks, the coordinator scheduled me for dates I couldn't make, so we had to push it out another two weeks. The in-person interviews felt cold and unfriendly. Management seemed to lack communication and social skills, and their focus was off. They also seemed to have a lack of strategy regarding the market segment they want to focus on. There was also a noticeable lack of gender diversity, with all interviewers being male. My second interviewer seemed a bit iffy towards the end, and I guess the hiring manager noticed, because the scheduling coordinator delivered the news that I wasn't a good fit, though they did give me a compliment first. Honestly, I was glad to be done as the feeling was mutual. They blocked off 5 hours, including lunch, but we finished by noon without even offering to buy lunch after wasting my day. While schedule adjustments happen, this was really unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. My advice for product management candidates is to be prepared for wasted time, rude behavior, poor communication, and gender bias.

Got a message from a Groupon recruiter on LinkedIn. Then I had a chat with their Director of Product Recruitment, lasting about an hour. She talked a lot about Groupon's plans for next year and asked me questions for about 15 minutes. She was really nice on the phone. A few days later, I had another phone interview with the Director of Product for mobile. This interviewer got straight to the questions. They asked things like describe yourself in three adjectives and why, and what's a product you admire. The interview went fine, but after I answered 'How would you define success of the Groupon daily deal?', the interviewer said we were done and asked if I had any questions for them. That was it, about 20 minutes. Didn't hear back after that.

It was pretty unprofessional. After the initial phone screen, the HR insisted I come in for an onsite interview with only 36 hours' notice, otherwise the position might no longer be available. The onsite consisted of four hour-long interviews back-to-back, with no break for lunch. I ended up eating lunch during one of the interviews while the interviewer, who was videoing in from SF, didn't eat lunch due to the time difference.
