& Process

The interview process started off great, I was getting quick responses and there was a lot of transparency which was refreshing. I had a phone screen where there were questions about my personality and work experience. I thought reviewing the other glassdoor reviews was helpful during the phone screen. I then had an in person interview where I met with other people that I would be working with. Questions were mixed and tried to get a glimpse into me as a person as well as my skillset. I think the communication went by the wayside after the interview and that I got the runaround from them. I wasn't given any information as to what next steps were, additional information needed from me, etc. If they weren't interested in hiring me, they should have just been upfront about it rather than give me the runaround

I talked with 2 recruiters first. Then I met with 5 people from the department. First was the hiring manager's boss, then their partner, then the hiring manager, then a senior finance person, and last an analyst gave me a SQL test.

My phone interview went really well. Then I had an on-site interview and that's when it got really interesting. The vibe there was like a college social hour, everyone seemed more concerned with their appearance and what others thought of them. It's hard to imagine how the company thrives when people are on Facebook or chatting instead of working. I learned that the actual work is done by a few people who admitted they sleep at their desks. My interviewer looked exhausted and basically told me I'd be overworked and underpaid. He went on a rant about how exciting it is to be in a startup and that he's happy he took the chance even if it fails. It wasn't the best thing to hear from someone trying to recruit you.
