Product Designer
It was a really fast and easy process, and the team did a great job with the questions. They made me feel welcome, like I was already part of the team. The questions were really thoughtful and presented in a positive way that helped me succeed and feel confident being myself.
- Can you explain your design process to someone unfamiliar with your role or field?
Software Engineer
Went through an external recruiter, then a 30-minute technical interview with the CTO. After that, there was a leetcode-style coding challenge in JavaScript. The final round was a virtual on-site with a senior engineer and an engineering manager. The on-site interviewers hadn't read my resume and were on company chat during my pair programming exercise. One of them talked about "vulnerability" at work. It became apparent about 20 minutes in that they thought I was applying for a senior role, which wasn't the case as I'd clarified with the CTO that I was junior/mid-level. I wouldn't have blocked 3 hours for a senior role. The whole operation felt a bit disorganized.
- Can you tell me about a time you disagreed with a coworker and how you handled it?
Software Engineering Manager
I had a call with the hiring manager and they said I'd hear back in about a week, but then they ghosted me. It makes you wonder about communication on the job if they can't even send a rejection. It was only one interview so not a ton of time wasted, but it feels off when a company talks about valuing people but then can't take a moment to send an automated rejection.
- What are your thoughts on engineering management basics?
Director
It was pretty informal. The CEO, who is a really easy-going and approachable guy, guided the interview and aimed to make me feel comfortable. He was very interested in my aspirations and how they could align with the company's objectives.
- What motivates you?
- What are your future career goals?
- How can I support your professional development?
