First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Griffith University.
Project Manager
I interviewed with a panel of managers. Lots of questions about work culture and teamwork. It wasn't too stressful. We talked a lot about the employment structure and the university environment in general.
- Can you describe a time you dealt with a conflict with a coworker?
HDR candidate
I chatted with the potential supervisor about my research background, we talked about what's needed to graduate with a PhD, and I shared that I picked this program because it has a good work-life balance and isn't as cutthroat as programs in the US.
- What motivated your decision to apply to this program?
Cyber Security Analyst
The interview process was lengthy and felt inconsiderate of my time. I went through 7 interviews for a role in Griffith's digital department. This process included several presentations, conversations, and written assignments. The final interview involved a panel of 7 people, including management, an academic, and surprisingly, a librarian. I didn't receive specific feedback on why I wasn't selected, only that I was 'unlucky' in the final interview.

IT Support Analyst
The interview process was straightforward, consisting of a single round where I spoke with two supervisors. They asked me behavioral questions, specifically about how I'd handle difficult customers, manage competing priorities, and work with colleagues. After that, we had a brief discussion about the role's responsibilities and expectations.
- Can you describe a situation where you faced competing priorities with multiple tasks? How did you manage and prioritize your workload?
- What do you consider your top five troubleshooting skills, and can you provide examples of how you've used them to achieve success?
