First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Grid Dynamics.
Software Engineer
This was a really good technical interview, lasted about 2 hours, and was super well-planned. The people interviewing were pros and really knew their stuff. HR was also on top of things and quick. I got some really good feedback at first, but I was bummed I never heard back about a decision, good or bad. The last I heard, they were waiting on client feedback.
- Can you share your experience?
- Can you do a short coding exercise?
- Can you do a system design exercise?
Senior Software Engineer
Unless they're hiring for a specific project, I don't do technical interviews. I had two interviews with this company, and both times they didn't have a specific project in mind, they were just interviewing randomly. The first interview was one of the worst I've ever had; the interviewer asked really weird and super specific questions. When I asked if he'd actually used them, he'd say, 'I just stumbled upon this a few weeks ago and wanted to see if you knew it.' This was for a senior developer role with years of experience. Fast forward two years, I interviewed with them again. This interview went great, and I answered pretty much everything, except for a few very specific questions again, with the same 'I stumbled upon this a few weeks ago and wanted to see if you knew about it' excuse. Who does that? I was told I didn't pass for senior but for middle, even though, besides those niche questions, I answered everything, sometimes a bit slow because I was stressed or misunderstood, but I answered.
- Tell me about multithreading.
- What are ACID properties in databases?
- Explain the CAP theorem.
Software Engineer
It was a three-round interview process. First, HR, then a technical interview with two senior engineers. We talked about distributed systems, microservice architecture, my past work, and challenges I've faced. I had a small algorithmic problem, but it was more about explaining my thought process and solution rather than live coding. Lastly, I had an interview with the team manager to learn about the team's work and ask questions.
- Can you explain the usage and purpose of JTW tokens and their components?
