Started with a standard recruiter screen. Since there wasn't a CS manager available, the recruiter moved me forward to interview with a JMI (PE) Advisor. This advisor acted like they were interviewing for a SVP role and seemed to really enjoy their interrogation style. I'd prepared a slide deck to show how I could add value, but they completely disregarded it. It was a really bad experience, and honestly, it fits with the company's low reputation seen in Glassdoor reviews.

The interview process included a quick recruiter phone call, followed by a 30-minute meeting with the team manager. After that, there was a 2-hour interview session with 4 different people, a mix of team members and managers. Each of these individuals shared their unique perspective on the company and how the role would integrate with their work.

Greenlight Guru uses a company called Woven to administer technical tests for candidates applying for the Software Engineer role. I had a really bad experience with Woven in the past. The first time I took their React test 3 years ago, I couldn't submit it due to a technical issue on their end, but they denied it. Then, in the summer of 2019, I took their test again for another company, and their instructions actually admitted to having a glitch that prevented submissions, along with a workaround. This past weekend, when I applied to Greenlight Guru, I expected another Woven test. Instead, I got an email from Woven saying I couldn't work for Greenlight Guru or take their test because they "only want full-time" employees. I was confused because the Indeed application didn't have a part-time option and I wanted full-time. When I asked for clarification, the Woven employee said it was because I answered "Maybe" to working in the Indianapolis office. I said "maybe" because I don't know what their office is like, and I know people who used to work at Greenlight Guru who said they had remote options, which is common here. It seems like Woven is blackballing me. Greenlight Guru should find a different testing vendor or be upfront about who they won't hire.
