Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Greenberg Traurig.
Legal Secretary
The interview process is extremely slow and the firm seems disorganized and unable to communicate effectively with candidates. They've reached out multiple times, but then often cancel or reschedule, only to reach out again months later. I've decided not to be considered anymore when recruiters re-contact me. It feels disrespectful and unprofessional given the firm's size, and I can't help but wonder about their daily operations if they can't even manage the interview process courteously.
- What are your career aspirations?

The interview process was quite smooth and not as nerve-wracking as it can be at many other places. I had a phone call with someone I'd be working closely with in the role. We chatted about my current job and the reasons I was seeking a new position. Towards the end, they mentioned setting up a meeting with the partner I'd be working with when they were in town. They were really flexible in finding a time that worked for the interview. The in-person interview involved the person I spoke with on the phone and the partner. Both were friendly and kept things light during the conversation. They didn't make me feel like I had to oversell myself, which happens a lot in interviews. We talked about a few things from my resume and some concerns they had. I was encouraged to share any of my own concerns and ask as many questions as I liked. Honestly, it was the best interview experience I've ever had.
- Given that you haven't been with your current employer for over a year, what would make you stay with us?
- Can you tell me why you are looking for a new opportunity?
- Do you have any concerns you'd like to share?
Legal Secretary
I put in my application on the company's website back in April. About 3 months after that, I got a call from HR. Two weeks post-phone call, they set up an in-person interview. I talked with HR and then did some software tests. After that, I spoke with another HR person who's in charge of secretaries. Midway through this chat, they mentioned the job was actually more entry-level, suggesting I might be too qualified, even though we'd already talked about my salary needs and experience in the phone interview, and I was open to their pay range.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What's your approach to handling difficult individuals?
- How good are you at juggling multiple tasks at once?
