Applied through college. The whole thing took about a month. Started with a technical phone screen, then a 2-hour remote coding test, and finally an all-day on-site interview. It was really exhausting. The people were nice though, and I actually enjoyed some of the questions, including the coding test. I thought I might get an offer, but they rejected me because they were actually looking for a principal engineer with 5-7+ years of experience. That was a huge turn-off because they never mentioned that upfront. The experience they wanted wasn't even on my resume. I don't get why they even interviewed me for an all-day thing when I clearly didn't have the experience they were after! Such a waste of time for everyone involved.

I went through an afternoon of interviews at Gree for a software engineering role. My experience included talking with three potential coworkers and the recruiter. Interestingly, the recruiter was the most engaging and candid person, acknowledging the company's negative Glassdoor reviews due to integration issues after acquisitions. The team members, however, were quite uninspiring. The hiring manager seemed friendly but looked exhausted. The office setup was an open floor with long tables, which I've found can be hit or miss for engineers; I personally prefer a private office or a cubicle with higher walls for better concentration. Gree is moving back to China Basin soon, so I'm unsure about the new office environment. Overall, Gree didn't strike me as the best fit or happiest place for me.

I applied on their homepage and a recruiter reached out about a week later. The first interview was with HR, lasting about 30 minutes, focusing on my background, past work, and how I found out about the company. After a two-week wait for feedback, I had a second phone interview with an engineer. This was a 40-minute technical session where they first asked about my resume and then presented two algorithm problems, like finding an iterative solution for post-order traversal of a BST and calculating the largest sum path from root to leaf. I was invited for an onsite interview two weeks later, but I had already accepted another offer and withdrew my application.
