First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Greater Boston Food Bank.
Accountant
It was a really long process with a lot of waiting between each step. The people were nice, but it felt like they were either disorganized or not being upfront about how long it would take. The whole thing took months. The HR manager would talk like I already had the job, saying things like 'WHEN you work here', making me feel like I was their top choice. But then, my in-person interview with the hiring manager (whom I'd already talked to on the phone) got rescheduled multiple times. In the end, they told me they had hired someone else.
- Could you tell me about your experience using NetSuite?
Power BI Analyst
First, there was a phone screening, followed by a video interview with the hiring manager.
- What would be your first expectation from the team leader or manager?
- Tell me about yourself
- Technical questions
Development Associate
The HR person seemed more interested in behavioral questions and how I'd handle situations instead of the job itself. This felt like a red flag, suggesting past employee issues or difficult current management. While friendly, the interview was a bit odd and invasive (asking about my previous salary before discussing the role). They didn't really highlight the company's strengths. After the call, I received a personality test, and since I didn't hear back, I assume I didn't pass. The pay offered is below average.
- Describe a situation where you had to work hard to gain someone's trust at work, and explain the steps you took to achieve that trust.
Communications Intern
It was a really straightforward interview. They asked about my background and if I understood the company. It's super important to know the company's mission and check out their website. Some questions were about specific programs mentioned on their site or social media.
