I had a phone screening and then a tech interview. There were a couple of things I didn’t know, and I said I didn’t know and they repeatedly hounded me over them. Was a little bit ridiculous because half the interview was on these couple of things that were listed as nice to haves, not even in job description. I wouldn’t have taken the role after talking to my two interviewers no matter what.

The interview process started with an initial phone screen. This was followed by a 2-hour first interview and then a 30-minute second interview. After that, there was an aptitude test, two more interviews, a structured interview, and finally an HR interview. Everyone was really nice and they made sure I knew what to expect throughout the process. The aptitude test had some weird questions, like 'If Sally has 4 apples and Gary has 6 monkeys, how many submarines will it take to get to Paris by 5?'. The structured interview focused on personal response questions to see how I'd handle different scenarios. It also seemed like there was no room for negotiation on anything, which gave me the impression that the company might be a bit stuck in its ways regarding employee practices.

Upon arriving at Greatamerica, I first took a timed assessment which wasn't too hard. Then I had a chat with an HR person who mostly just asked about my other job applications and how far along I was in those processes. She also inquired about any connections I might have at the company, and when I said I didn't know anyone, I got the impression I was immediately dismissed. It felt like a closed group, where knowing someone might be a prerequisite even for an entry-level role. She then asked about my future career goals, and I mentioned wanting to grow within the company and move into different HR roles. However, she informed me that they weren't looking to promote from within this position and were seeking someone to stay in this role long-term, which seemed contradictory to my ambitions as a recent graduate.

It was a contract-to-hire. I first had a 20-minute interview with the vendor at the end of May. After submitting my application, I received an interview request two weeks later. This involved an assessment with aptitude and sequence number questions. Then, I interviewed with a panel of three people and got positive feedback. A month passed, and they informed me they were waiting for a local candidate. It's frustrating that they wasted my time when they were aware of this requirement, and I ended up waiting for two months. Their decision-making process is too slow. Only apply here if you have a lot of patience and are already employed, looking for a change in 3-4 months.
